The findings are documented in a Roof Condition Report, and include an evaluation of the waterproofing and associated details, concluding with recommendations and accurate budget costs.
Leak detection
Our experienced surveyors are often called upon to help diagnose nuisance leaks. The cause is often untraceable with the naked eye but can be pinpointed using our specialist testing equipment.
Dilapidations
Our fully impartial surveys and reports are frequently used as a negotiation tool for clients in dilapidation discussions.

Roof testing
RWS Roof Testing have a range of advanced roof testing devices to help improve our services, whether this be our roof condition surveys or leak detection.
Our main device is our nuclear moisture gauge. This tests for hydrogen, hence water within the waterproofing build-up, i.e. between the structural deck and primary waterproofing cover. This information is extremely useful in ensuring an accurate diagnosis and appropriate recommendations, avoidingunder or over specification.
The device is non-destructive i.e. requires no intrusive work and can be used on all flat roofs.
De-watering
RWS Roof Testing can arrange and manage de-watering works, ensuring the roof is suitably prepared prior to any over-covering with a new system.
RWS Roof Testing can advise on the required locations of a vacuum pump, then re-test the roof to confirm sufficient water has been removed. This can provide significant savings compared to a strip and renewal.
PPM/PMR
RWS Roof Testing are often used alongside building consultants to undertake an executive level survey and report on all roof areas on any multi-building site.
The findings are presented in tabular form, with each roof rated on a scaled list to help prioritise future works. Recommendations and accurate budget costs are included, most commonly over a 10-year period.
Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) bid assistance
Our roof testing services are used by building consultants and other bid advisors, including roofing manufacturers and contractors to help improve the presentation of their bids.
The findings from our testing helps illustrate the condition of roof areas, often improving chances of successful bids.
Roof integrity testing
Our roof testing services are used by roofing manufacturers and contractors to sign off newly installed waterproofing systems.
All defects are identified, numbered and marked on the roof, with all findings presented in our roof integrity testing report. A practical completion certificate is issued on completion of recommended works.
Clerk of works
Following our surveys and testing, we can provide an advisory role in taking the project to site. This includes product selection from the full range of products on the market, through to contractor interviews.
Once on site, we carry out regular inspections, ensuring the works are being carried out correctly and as per installation guidelines.
